{ The Big Island Summer Music Camp }

THE BIG ISLAND SUMMER MUSIC CAMP WILL NOT BE ABLE TO OFFER THE OVERNIGHT CAMP FOR 2014. Please stay tuned… we are trying to organize a few day camp workshops. We look forward to seeing you and mahalo for your patience.
The Big Island Summer Music Camp includes 6-nights lodging, 3 healthy fresh meals per day plus snack, a yoga class in the morning, a hip array of music classes, workshops and jams headed by working professional artists… plus… outings to hot ponds, tide pools and other natural wonders located near The Bamboo Oasis.

The curriculum offers a basic introduction to classic jazz and blues repertoire and highlights its many influences in all styles of music. The schedule also includes fun and creative song writing workshops and rock ensembles where the students can explore more contemporary trends in music. Campers are invited to join a traditional Kanikapila (Hawaiian Jam Session). Campers are guided in repertoire preparation as well as in proper performance and engagement etiquette for the Hawaiian music session. See an outline of a typical day at camp on the right column of the “Classes” page.

The Big Island Summer Music Camp embraces a supportive non-competitive environment where campers can build confidence, explore new creative territory, and find their own unique inner voice.

Our classroom is in the beautiful jungle rainforest on the Big Island of Hawaii. Unique nature adventures and other interpretive and recreational outdoor activities are woven into the daily program. Evening activities may include student ensemble showcases, more free form open mic performance opportunities, or faculty concerts.

Enrollment is limited. Go to “Registration” and download your application form. Scholarships are available. Get scholarship information on the “Scholarship” page. Please consider gifting a scholarship to give all interested students an opportunity to attend.
